South Dakota State plays its first game as part of the Missouri Valley Football Conference on Saturday against Youngstown State - the first step toward finding its place within what may be the best league in the Football Championship Subdivision.
On the field, the Jackrabbits seem to fit. They play the same physical style that the league has favored since its creation in 1985, and they're ranked in the top 25 along with five other Valley squads.
