In a hard-fought, back-and-forth battle, host O'Gorman scored the final three points of the fifth game to earn a 3-2 season-opening volleyball win over Lincoln on Thursday. The Patriots came out swinging to take game one 25-4, but the Knights regrouped to win the next two games, 25-15 and 25-22. Lincoln won the fourth 25-18 before the Knights won the finale 15-13. "It was a fun volleyball match to start the season," said Knights coach Ranae Kuchta. "It took a total team effort - everybody made a difference at some point in the match."
